Stop for lunch/morning tea at Crab Farm winery with a short cycle on to Church Road and Mission Estate winery. Spend the rest of the day riding back to our base in Ahuriri. When you are ready to go (mid morning is good!) come to Takaro Trails base, collect your bikes and get your instructions (and map) to begin your cycle to Cape Kidnappers. You can visit one or all of the Cape Kidnappers cluster of wineries – Elephant Hill, Clearview and Te Awanga Estate for wine tastings.
Lunch (cost to be paid direct to winery) is at the gorgeous Clearview Estate . The van will pick you up after lunch (around 4pm TBC on the day) to transport you back for another night at your accommodation in Ahuriri.

Not keen on getting too wet but love abseiling?
Apart from a couple of waist-deep pools Blue Creek is a dry canyoning trip. This stunning Kahurangi canyon is deep and narrow as it was carved into a softer type of rock over many years. In some places you can touch both walls at the same time and if you look up you’ll only see a sliver of daylight. It really feels like you’re getting absorbed by the earth. If you ask your guides nicely they might even try to keep your feet dry on this one. By the end of this trip, you’ll be an abseiling pro!

What is Canyoning?
Canyoning is one of the newer Abel Tasman activities. It is a combination of lots of fun stuff all bunched into one exciting activity. Trips normally start with a walk through beautiful scenery. Then it’s time to get the rubber suits on and start making your way down the canyon. We jump off cliffs into deep pools below, slide down water polished chutes and abseil besides or sometimes even through showering waterfalls. Most of the time you’ll be surrounded by steep walls covered in moss and ferns. And of course your guides will make sure you know exactly what to do. Going on a trip is the only way anyone can get to see these stunning places and experience all the fun stuff Mother Nature throws at you.
Sailing away in the Abel Tasman
Exploring the Abel Tasman should be on everybody's 'must do' list sometime in their lifetime, and we can't think of a more relaxing and effortless way than on a large sailing Catamaran.
This package includes a water taxi from Kaiteriteri Beach to Anchorage Beach in the National Park. Depending on how long you want to spend on the beach at Anchorage, you can choose your time for the water taxi to suit you - 9.00am, 10.30am, 12.00pm, or 12.40pm.
At Anchorage Beach you will meet your catamaran at 1.30pm for a 3 hour sail back to Kaiteriteri. Along the way you'll learn about the Abel Tasman National Park, see secluded coves, golden sand beaches and visit a fur seal colony. A stop at the Split Apple Rock is also included.

The Hapuku Kitchen Seasonal Feast is an ever-changing half day experience, focused on uncomplicated and utterly delicious dishes made from ingredients sourced from the gardens and local producers.
The day begins with an introduction to the kitchen and the menu for the day. This is discussed over a cup of locally roasted coffee or a refreshing drink made from herbs and flowers from the garden. You’ll then embark on a wander around the Hapuku Kitchen property, foraging in the garden for fruit, vegetables and herbs.
Once you have completed the harvest, return to the kitchen and as a group, prepare the various dishes that make up the menu. With help always at hand, you will learn many techniques and tricks on the creation of the dishes of the day.
To finish the day, simply relax and enjoy the feast accompanied with wine or beer from some of Fiona’s favourite Canterbury and Marlborough winemakers and brewers. Delicious home-made non-alcoholic beverages are also available, such as sparkling elderflower and cucumber.

Doubtful Sound

Adults Doubtful Sound is a beautiful fiord; three times longer than Milford Sound and a surface area ten times larger with twisting arms. With its rugged peaks, verdant rainforest and twisting, hidden inlets, Doubtful Sound will take your breath away.
There’s no direct road access, so the only way you can to get to Doubtful Sound is a cruise across the picturesque Lake Manapouri, followed by a bus trip over Wilmot Pass - New Zealand's most expensive (and majestic) road. You’ll pause along the way to experience the dense Fiordland rainforest and view Doubtful Sound glistening below. This isolation makes this fiord a very special place, only those in the know get to see.
Once you arrive, you will board the Patea Explorer for a 3 hour (approximately) cruise on Doubtful Sound - a spectacular pristine fiord. During the cruise, your knowledgeable and friendly skipper or nature guide will share with you their passion for the region. They’re always ready to answer questions, point out landmarks and provide all the information about the varied wildlife you may see, including dolphins, fur seals, and the rare Fiordland crested penguin.

Live baiting for Yellowtail Kingfish is one of Steve’s forte’s. Pound for pound these fish have to be one of the greatest fighting fish in the ocean.
When targeting Yellowtail Kingfish, Steve will initially hunt out patches of live bait amongst the inner islands. Anglers will now get their first taste of fishing. Here Sabiki Fly rigs are used on a rod and reel to catch Jack Mackerel or Slimey Mackerel
The novice angler will find Steve gives plenty of tuition while catching live bait – a great chance to become familiar with the procedure before doing battle with Kingies.
These small mackerel are held in the live bait tank with a constantly replenishing supply of seawater so that they remain as lively as possible to attract the true bounty, Yellowtail Kingfish.
It is then onto deeper waters where a combination of live bait, cut bait, jigs (lures) or even balloons may be used depending on weather and sea conditions, fish feeding patterns and any other influencing factors indicated on recent fishing expeditions.
Not only do the live bait attract Kingfish, they also tend to attract shark action for some added excitement at various times of the year.
What better way to see NZ’s playground than by leaping out of a plane above it? Feel the rush of freefall before your jump master pulls the chord & you enjoy a scenic descent back down to earth!

Adults We think everyone should jump out of a plane at least once in their lives. It's hard to describe the feeling, but you can imagine it, hanging out the side of a plane, attached to a highly experienced instructor and then simply falling away from the plane at up to 200kph. A truly bucket list experience.
It takes a certain kind of person to jump from an aircraft at 12,000ft into thin air. It takes courage.
Expect sensory overload as your mind, body and soul fight against every natural self-preserving urge. The challenge is immense. Harnessed by space age materials to a qualified Jumpmaster, you step out of that aircraft door and for up to 60 seconds freefall at 200 kph - terminal velocity!
After a 15 minute scenic flight to altitude, you will nudge towards the edge of the plane before being thrown out! Keep your head up, smile at your skydive photographer and take in the stunning surroundings. After an exhilarating freefall, you will experience a 4-5 minute parachute ride, floating safely back down to the skydive drop zone.

Take on this epic 12,000 Foot skydive over the stunning Tauranga area with views (if you're looking!) north up the Coromandel Peninsula, east as far as White Island, Mt Maunganui and Tauranga Harbour. Adults A full day ride exploring the enchantment of the unique countryside this part of the world has to offer. You need to be comfortable in the saddle at all gaits over all-terrain to really enjoy this.
River Valley Stables operates at some of the highest elevations of any trekking operation in New Zealand; consequently, weather conditions can change quickly. This can alter our choice of trails used on any given day.
If the weather is looking okay, then the ride will be to the top of Pukeokahu (1000 metres above sea level), what we call a hill, but many would call a mountain. Many of the trails are steep; however, the views from the top are incredible – you will just have to take our word for it and check them out yourself!
The top of Pukeokahu is an excellent place for your lunch stop on a lovely summers day.
Group size will be small, and you will need to be a competent rider. River Valley Stables guides will take special care to match you with a horse that you will enjoy. Adults Diving the Poor Knights Marine Reserve is a truly special experience. Sitting 23 KMs off the coast of Tutukaka in Northland, these islands are a total Marine Reserve, a pending world heritage site and an internationally renowned icon in the diving world.
The Poor Knights are the best diving in NZ. The Poor Knights have been rated by Jacques Cousteau as in the top ten sites in the world. They are a complete marine reserve with literally thousands of fish, and hundreds of species. They are famous for their biodiversity.
The Islands are massive and have volcanic origins, which result in steep cliffs, arches, caves and swim-throughs both above and below the surface. The flora and fauna is totally unique and different to mainland NZ. They are the islands that time forgot. Middle Earth in the Middle of the Ocean.
Here's what you'll experience: You will head out for the hour long journey to the Poor Knights Islands and Marine Reserve, and once you are there you will have plenty of time for snorkelling, kayaking, drinking hot drinks, enjoying the fantastic scenery and lazing about in the sun! Adults Abseil 100m into the surreal Lost World. Descend slowly, suspended in the massive void. Mist-filtered light gives unreal qualities to the strange plants and formations. Then embark on an underworld trek and climb back through the majestic dry passages of the Mangapu cave system.
The abseil (rappel) descent takes around 20 minutes of the total 4 hours required.
Abseil slowly alongside your instructor who although on a separate rope provides information, reassurance ...and a backup safety tether.
Imagine free-hanging in this massive void…bouncing a bit & turning because of the sheer length of the rope. Look around into upper levels of the cave and giant spagatites (look like giant green hands growing out of the walls). Weird plants struggle to cling to the sheer walls and all the while the roar of the Mangapu river echoes up from caverns far below.
It feels like you’re descending into the bowels of some gigantic prehistoric beast…a sensory feast.
