Ultimate Zipline Experience

TripAdvisor declared Rotorua Canopy Tour's Ultimate Experience the 11th best experience in the WORLD in 2021. That's pretty high praise!

You need to allow yourself 3.5 hours to experience this activity which is surprisingly suitable for almost everyone.

After meeting at their base on the outskirts of Rotorua where you meet you guides who ooze professionalism and fun times, you'll be transported up to a magical forest that appears to have been lost in time. You'll immediately be struck with how you feel as you are transported to another world full of amazing trees, ferns, smells and noise.

Perhaps the most impressive feat by the team at Canopy Tours is over the past 10 years they have removed all the possums and rats from this once unloved and forgotten slice of New Zealand forest and restored it to a pest free environment - so much so that you can spot many bird species and in an amazing highlight of the expereince, even handfeed wild robins.

The experience consists of 6 ziplines for a total of 1.2 kilometres. They vary from shooting you through tight gaps in the forest layer to giant swooping flights through deep forested valleys. There is even a 400 metre tandem line so you can race you partner....but this tour is so much more than an adreneline rush.

In addition there are a number of suspended bridges that span wide valleys, floating staircases and one of the highlights - the 50 metre high cliff walk - that appears seemingly out of no where as you arrive perched high on it after a zipline flight out of the forest canopy.

It's a truly special experience, suitable for anyone with a okay level of fitness. It operates in all weather but does suspend operations when high winds exist.

Experience Provider: Whale Watch Kaikoura & Hapuku Kitchen

Do both in a day, or make an entire weekend out of your Chuffed Gift, with these two incredible Kaikoura Experiences!

Whale Watch:

Whale Watch is New Zealand's only vessel based whale watching company offering an exciting up-close encounter with the world's largest toothed predator the Giant Sperm Whale. See the whales in their natural environment at all times of the year, boasting a 95% success rate!

The main focus of your tour is to locate and view the Giant Sperm Whale. Whale Watch average between 1 to 2 whale sightings per tour due to the length of time the whales can stay submerged. The whales form loose pods, keeping several miles between each other, so viewing any more than 1 to 2 whales per trip is a real bonus.

Around 80% of the world’s whale and dolphin species migrate past our coastline so at any given time there is the opportunity for other species of marine mammals to be sighted such as Blue, Fin, Sei, Humpback, Minke, Pilot, Orca and Southern Right Whales, Common Dolphins, Bottlenose Dolphins, Southern Right Whale Dolphins, Elephant Seals and Leopard Seals.

Depending on the amount of time available after viewing the Sperm Whales, the captain of the vessel may decide to move in along the coastline and see what other types of marine life can be encountered. This could include Dusky and Hector Dolphins and the New Zealand Fur Seal.

Kaikōura is also home to around 75% of the world’s pelagic sea bird species which include Wandering and Royal Albatross, Mollymawk Albatross, Petrels, Shearwaters, Prions, Fulmars, Gannets, Terns and Herons.

Throughout your tour there is an onboard visual presentation, “World of the Whales” – an experience that takes passengers “virtually” to the bottom of the Kaikōura undersea canyon. The presentation also provides information for a variety of marine life found in Kaikōura waters.

Designed specially for whale watching, the modern catamarans are equipped with engines that minimise underwater noise and toilets that never pollute the sea. The main passenger cabin is enclosed and large outside decks offer great viewing and photo opportunities. Passenger numbers for each tour are kept well below vessel carrying capacity to ensure your tour experience remains a personal one.

Hapuku Kitchen:

At its heart, Hapuku Kitchen is focused on reconnecting the kitchen to the land and sea, celebrating the abundant larder nature has to offer - taking inspiration from the wild Kaikōura landscape. You are hosted in the home of Fiona & Chris Read, located between the soaring peaks of the Kaikōura mountains and the wild Pacific coast of Aotearoa New Zealand, for a culinary adventure that celebrates the season.

The Hapuku Kitchen Seasonal Feast is an ever-changing half day experience, focused on uncomplicated and utterly delicious dishes made from ingredients sourced from the gardens and local producers.

The day begins with an introduction to the kitchen and the menu for the day.  This is discussed over a cup of locally roasted coffee or a refreshing drink made from herbs and flowers from the garden.  You’ll then embark on a wander around the Hapuku Kitchen property, foraging in the garden for fruit, vegetables and herbs.

Once you have completed the harvest, return to the kitchen and as a group, prepare the various dishes that make up the menu.  With help always at hand, you will learn many techniques and tricks on the creation of the dishes of the day.

To finish the day, simply relax and enjoy the feast accompanied with wine or beer from some of Fiona’s favourite Canterbury and Marlborough winemakers and brewers.  Delicious home-made non-alcoholic beverages are also available, such as sparkling elderflower and cucumber.

The 'Urban Monk' Package - 4 Float sessions paired with a 3 week virtual mindfulness programme
$399 NZD
Auckland
1 hour
Adult
Experience Provider: Float Culture

Build peace, mindfulness and complete physical relaxation into your lifestyle with four 60 minute float sessions at Float Culture Auckland, combined with a Three week virtual Mindfulness Programme!

What is Floating? Floatation involves lying in a super-saturated Epsom-salt solution about 30cm deep. The salt water solution is heated to skin temperature 35.5C. Once you are settled, it is almost impossible to tell which parts of your body are in the water and which aren’t. The high density of the saline solution will make you feel completely weightless, letting every single muscle in your body fully relax. The float pods are specifically designed to block out all external distractions, such as sights, sounds, tactile sensations and gravity.

Why Float?

  • Muscle relaxation: Float to release muscle tension, flush lactic acid, promote muscle growth, relieve pain and recover faster.
  • Creativity & Mindfulness: Float to unlock the power of your mind – creativity, super learning and powerful recall.
  • Fast-acting stress relief: Float to rest, relief stress, pain and depression or simply improve wellbeing.

The mindfulness Program is a transformative course that aims to help you find more meaning and fulfilment in your life. In today’s hyper-connected world, we often find ourselves glued to our screens, sharing experiences with thousands of people but still feeling disconnected from our own lives. This disconnection contributes to increasing levels of stress and anxiety-related illnesses worldwide.

One answer to this problem is found in ancient practices like mindfulness, which has gained popularity in recent years for its ability to reduce stress, improve self-understanding, and increase emotional intelligence. For the past 8 years, Float Culture has been helping Aucklanders connect with their internal experiences through floatation therapy.

The Urban Monk Program takes this connection to the next level, providing a 3-week voyage toward mindfulness. The program combines float sessions with daily meditations, guided breathing techniques, and personalized reminders to make mindfulness an easy-to-follow addition to your daily life. Grounded in Zen philosophy, this program provides valuable insights, simplifying practices and theories to add meaning to your life. Join us in exploring the transformative power of mindfulness.

Cycle Gisborne provides everything you need for a day exploring Gisborne city & its surrounding beaches, museums cafe's & more!

Tairāwhiti Gisborne, with its easy flat terrain, is the perfect town to explore via bike!

Here are a few top picks for a day of exploring on bike:

Kat’s top pic | Explore the river cycle ways and Oneroa beach cycle ways. Take in the museum, cafes, and sights along the way. There’s heaps of history on the trail, and beautiful beaches, so a swimsuit and sunscreen are a must!

Anelia’s top pick | Cycle to Wainui Beach on the Wainui cycleway. It’s off-road most of the way and there’s delicious ice cream at the Okitu stores to enjoy on the beautiful golden beaches. Freshen up between the flags near Wainui Surf Club afterward.

Tour the vineyards | Grab a Gisborne wine map and follow safe roads out of town. Visit some of Tairāwhiti Gisborne’s boutique cellar doors and enjoy a delicious Tairāwhiti Gisborne Chardonnay and a vineyard platter along the way.

Bike out to Gray’s Bush, take a picnic, and wander around this stand of original podocarp forest on the Poverty Bay flats. If you’ve got more energy left, head further inland to the Waihirere Domain and take a wander to the waterfalls.

Bike rental is available from the Gisborne i-Site or the office at Cycle Gisborne. Office is open by appointment only so please phone in advance.

Dive Tatapouri:

Dive Tatapouri located 15 minutes from Tairawhiti Gisborne, and offers a world famous interactive marine experience with Stingrays and other sea life.  You'll get to discover the Tamariki (Children) of Tangaroa (the Maori God of the Sea), whilst taking in the magical marine surroundings of Tatapouri on the East Coast of the North Island, where the first light touches NZ shores.

Once you have donned all the appropriate gear & been briefed on the beach front, the guides will walk you out onto the reef, where you will interact with Wild Short Tail  Stingrays, Eagle Rays and other reef dwellers in their natural habitat. Let Pancake and Waffle, two Short Tail stingrays sit on your feet and wait for a gentle stroke, hard to imagine that Stingrays are perceived to be dangerous. The Reef Ecology Tour is a truly amazing and unforgettable experience.

Helping to create memories for adults and children of all ages, this fun and fascinating adventure to meet the Stingrays is also an educational experience that will have you walking away appreciating Stingrays and ocean life, along with gaining insights into the Stingrays some of which the Dive Tatapouri crew has been working with since they were born on the reef.

Experience Provider: Hapuku Kitchen

Why is this Chuffed Worthy?

While we haven't yet had a chance to experience Hapuku Kitchen first-hand, we were so inspired hearing the story of Fiona & Chris & their passion for using locally sourced, seasonally fresh ingredients in all of their experiences, we knew we had to get them on board for our customers for experience themselves. The Chuffed team are arguing over who gets to go and 'quality control' this experience first!
