The kauri tree, Agathis australis, is New Zealand’s largest and most famous native tree. Located midway between Auckland and the Bay of Islands, the Kauri Museum tells some of the stories of this amazing tree.
Celebrating everything to do with kauri and the people of northern New Zealand/Aotearoa, the Museum has stories of the Māori of the north eastern Kaipara, of European pioneers, of foresters and sawmillers, gum diggers and farmers, and of business people, fishers and the families who have made this area their home.

The Sauna Wānaka is a mobile 15-person sauna that gets people warm and toasty out in nature. The sauna features a traditional wood-burning Finnish fireplace, all-natural build materials, upper and lower-level seating, and a large panoramic window to enjoy the mountainous views. This package entitles you to four guided Sauna Sessions.
Each session includes three 12 to 15-minute rounds of sauna by an instructor. There is a break between each round if you want to dip in the lake, and the session lasts for an hour. Te Mata Estate and Akarangi are very close by so you can start your wine tasting early!
