The experience itself is a 90 minute state-of the art guided encounter that showcases the All Blacks through the latest innovation and technology. This full sensory and interactive experience allows New Zealanders to celebrate and understand New Zealand’s rugby heritage, achievements and culture.
We thought the best way to highlight the best parts of the experience was to take the words of Ed Burak, the All Blacks Experience designer as to what her thought the top highlights are for visitors:
- The Haka – take in the full force of the Haka through a 4 metre high screen experience that draws you in from the first moment. As close as you will come to facing the real thing.
- Test your rugby skills – In a hands on interactive zone you’ll be able to match your kicking, passing, lineout and accuracy skills against those of actual All Blacks – and discover where your talents truly lie.
- New Zealand’s Rugby Story – you’ll immerse yourself in the history, culture and people that have made the All Blacks such an icon in New Zealand and the world
- Legends of the Game – Hear directly from past and present legends of the game and discover their stories, moments and matches.
- Performing under pressure – through the use of technology and innovation you will get insights and direction from coaches and players to understand what it is like to perform under pressure in a high performance team

Rangitoto Island Return Ferry
Sail out to one of the most iconic landmarks in the Hauraki Gulf - Rangitoto Island, and spend the day exploring.
Rangitoto erupted from the sea approximately 600 years ago in a series of dramatic explosions. Two episodes 10 to 50 years apart are thought to have lasted for several years each. This makes Rangitoto the youngest island in the Hauraki Gulf and the last and largest volcano to be formed in the Auckland volcanic field.
Exploring Rangitoto is a fantastic day adventure. A gentle climb through lava fields will lead you to the summit in approximately one hour. Allow extra time to explore the lava caves on the way back, or see the historic bach community near the wharf.
Ferry takes approximately 25 minutes from downtown Auckland.

Evening Penguin Tour near Akaroa
$189 NZD
Guided tour to visit the largest mainland colony of Australasion Little Penguins in New Zealand. Tour across private land for an exclusive viewing of these creatures.
Click to find out more Experience Provider: Pohatu Penguins
Pohatu is the largest Australasian Little Penguin colony on mainland New Zealand where this family owned business has worked over the last three decades protecting White-flippered Penguins, Canterbury's own variant of Australasian Little Penguin, from introduced predators.
This is a wonderful option for people who wish to take part in the monitoring program and discover more, in depth, about the conservation efforts. This gives you great insight into the life of a penguin and the chance to see the birds up-close and a unique opportunity to watch them socialising on the water.
After a breathtaking scenic drive over Akaroa extinct volcano and photo opportunities you will discover tranquil Pohatu Bay where you will set off for a walk around the colony to monitor nesting sites and make sure that the Little Penguins are doing well. Then, you will have the unique opportunity to spot some undisturbed from hidden hides, socializing on the water with provided binoculars and telescope.
With night falling there is a high likelihood to see some penguins returning to shore and relaxing on the rocks before heading to their nests. As they have to walk so far to feed chicks you will leave before dark and leave them in peace.
In addition, tours booked late November to February may have the opportunity to see up-close rehabilitation efforts such as feedings and swim therapy.
The tour includes:
- 4WD transportation from Akaroa by 4WD minibus to and from Pohatu bay on some of Banks peninsula back country road,
- Welcome by rare sheep breeds that can be hand fed,
- A conservation walk and talk within the penguin habitat,
- Monitoring of penguin nesting homes to check on the colony,
- With camouflage gear and through binoculars and scope, watch penguin(s) in the middle of the bay, preening, resting and socialising,
- A likelihood of some birds coming ashore just under the hides as it get darker
Why is this Chuffed Worthy?
We love this business. This is an exemplar of how, when done well tourism is such a powerful force. Pohutu Penguins is a family run business with a long standing history of protecting the Little Penguin in Pohatu Bay. When Shireen and Francis Helps first started their penguin conservation work the penguins faced massive challenges via predation by rats, cats, ferrets and stoats. The colonies around Bank's Peninsula were disappearing at an alarming rate.
Through predator trapping, monitoring, rehabilitation and creating awareness the Pohutu Colony stabilized and has now grown into the largest colony of Little Penguins on mainland New Zealand. Today, the conservation work continues, and the tourism business has created jobs, raises marine conservation awareness and in short is simply a fantastic story!

And as for the trails there are so many recommendations and highlights. Most popular seems to be winery visits for lazy lunches, but equally there are so many beautiful spots for picnics or just a great day out riding and enjoying the expanse of the Hawke's Bay.
Walk a section of the famous Queen Charlotte Track - including boat transfers!
$159 NZD
Your chance to experience a section of the Queen Charlotte Track, famously one of New Zealand’s most scenic walks.
Click to find out more Experience Provider: Beachcomber Cruises
Your adventure will begin as you cruise north from Picton on a boat through the drowned river valleys of the Queen Charlotte Sound and past idyllic bays. As you head towards Ship Cove the skipper will talk about the history, geology, flora and fauna of the area and – if there is time- you'll get closer to any passing wildlife, including dolphins who like to play in the wake of the boat.
In the 1770s, sheltered Ship Cove provided safe anchorage, food, water and timber for explorer Captain James Cook and his ship crews on five separate occasions and saw some of the earliest sustained contact between Maori and Europeans.
There is plenty of historical information at Ship Cove before you climb away from the beach through native forest regenerating beneath a high canopy of trees. The forest includes manuka, kanuka, five finger and tree ferns and is home to many native New Zealand bird species: tui, fantails, silvereyes and tomtits. If you stop for a break, a curious weka may come to check you out.
When you reach Tawa Saddle, stunning views of the Queen Charlotte Sound spread out before you. The track then drops into Resolution Bay and follows an old bridle path into Endeavour Inlet.
Furneaux Lodge at the head of the Endeavor Inlet is your destination. Here you can buy drinks and meals and relax before boarding your cruise vessel at approximately 4-4.30pm for your return to Picton. Arriving back at approximately 5.30-6pm.

Why is this Chuffed Worthy?
James from Chuffed has visited Off Road NZ at least 20 times in the last 15 years - with his wife, visiting friends and family, groups of friends....the Go Karting never fails to impress. Part of it's charm is it's remote location on a 125 hectare farm 25 minutes drive into the hills from Rotorua. The fun is addictive, and the competitive spirit against yourself and your friends comes to the fore. So when Chuffed was born - Off Road NZ was one of the first calls James made to see if they wanted to be a partner. And lucky for everyone they said yes.
You might want to consider adding their 4WD bush safari and monster truck experience to you visit also.

Click to find out more Experience Provider: Hells Gate
Thanks to its beauty and healing properties Tikitere has been a destination for spa and nature seekers since 1871. In 1934 noted Irish playwright, George Bernard Shaw, visited and cited it as inspiration to change his once atheist beliefs. In awe of the boiling mud and steam billowing into the sky, Shaw is said to have exclaimed “this could be the very gates of hell.” Upon hearing this, local Māori decided the English name for the area would become Hell’s Gate.
Hell’s Gate mud spa is a historic New Zealand experience. The healing properties of the geothermal mud and sulphur mineral water have been used by local Māori for over 800 years. Open and clean your skin by lathering it in our unique mud, before exfoliating and cleansing with a soak in the sulphur spa. Your body and soul will feel revitalised after this soothing experience.
This experience includes bathing in the world-famous mud baths, then soaking in the sulphur spas and cool plunge pool.
