Sail out to one of the most iconic landmarks in the Hauraki Gulf – Rangitoto Island.

Rangitoto erupted from the sea approximately 600 years ago in a series of dramatic explosions. Two episodes 10 to 50 years apart are thought to have lasted for several years each.

This makes Rangitoto the youngest island in the Hauraki Gulf and the last and largest volcano to be formed in the Auckland volcanic field.

Exploring Rangitoto is a fantastic day adventure. A gentle climb through lava fields will lead you to the summit in approximately one hour. Allow extra time to explore the lava caves on the way back, or see the historic bach community near the wharf.

Ferry takes approximately 25 minutes from downtown Auckland - check ferry timetables to ensure you know when the last one is returning.

Game Over Auckland has a 200 metre go kart racing track that will test  your skills with smooth steering, throttle control and brake control. 15 laps and speeds of up to 65kph will really get you into the swing of things and confident as you take on the rest of the family.

Adults (13+) and juniors (7 - 12 years old) race separately. Juniors race up to 10 laps.

Why is this Chuffed Worthy?

Went we were seeking partners for Chuffed we were talking with the operators of Hampton Downs Racetrack. They offer a variety of track experiences including go karts and supercar racing. They actually suggested we look at Game Over as a softer indoor version for families, for those short of time, or those just wanting a softer introduction to a track experience than a full on outdoor racetrack experience. We took their advice, took a look and liked what we saw.

Opened in 2019, this experience is based at at the Sky City Precinct in Auckland and is designed to give you the most in-depth appreciation of what it is like to be a New Zealand All Black.

The experience itself is a 90 minute state-of the art guided encounter that showcases the All Blacks through the latest innovation and technology. This full sensory and interactive experience allows New Zealanders to celebrate and understand New Zealand's rugby heritage, achievements and culture.
