This adventure starts at the Cable Bay Adventure Park near Nelson.

Your tour starts with a 4km ride in a 4-wheel drive vehicle, passing through pristine native forest while your guides entertain you with facts about the park’s diverse native environment, cultural aspects and fun stories.

The Skywire is set 300m above the base café and has incredible views of Cable and Delaware Bays, the western ranges and north towards D’urville island. One a clear day you can even see the snow-capped peak of Mount Taranaki.

Strapped securely into the ride with 5-point harnesses, the Skywire seats up to four “flyers” at a time, with around 1000m of gravity assisted free-wheeling, reaching speeds of up to 100 kph, followed by 600m at a more leisurely pace – ideal for taking in the incredible scenery. Then you do it all again – BACKWARDS

Why is this Chuffed Worthy:

Beyond providing fantastic activities for the entire family, Cable Bay Adventure Park is actively contributing to the regeneration of their natural environment, through the removal of invasive pest species and replanting of native flora & fauna. They are also committed to acknowledging the cultural significance of the area, and work alongside the local Tangata Whenua to ensure park development is aligned with this. We think this is an awesome example of responsible tourism, and are proud to offer their experiences to our customers!
