Board a cruise from Pilot Bay in Mt Maunganui to get out on the idyllic Tauranga Harbour.
Launched in 1953 as one of Fullers first charter boats doing the world famous ‘cream trip’ in Bay of islands. The iconic KEWPIE has a massive history in NZ waters.
On this experience, you’ll cruise past the Statue of Tangaroa, a diversity of landscapes from untouched white sandy beaches, lush green forests, islands and small village settlements, contrasted by the massive highly developed port infrastructure.
Keep your eyes peeled as it’s not uncommon to spot seasonal wildlife on your cruise like blue penguins, sea birds, NZ fur seals and even Dolphin & Orca from time to time!
Stay on board or choose to hop off at Matakana Island. You are picked up on the same day at no extra cost. Spend an hour or a day on this beautiful island. This is an idyllic beach visit. Beautiful beach walks, fishing, swimming and picnics are popular.
Please note Matakana Island drop off is available on the 11am or 12pm cruise subject to weather and sea conditions. This is at the skippers discretion.
Why is this Chuffed Worthy?
MV Kewpie is an iconic boat not only in modern day Tauranga, but also in NZ tourism history. For a lighthearted, relaxing, refreshing & fun way to see one of New Zealand’s largest & most beautiful (we may be a tad biased) harbours, you cant go wrong with the legendary boat & equally legendary crew!
