The Coromandel Peninsula extends 85 km from the western end of the Bay of Plenty, forming a natural barrier to protect the Hauraki Gulf and the Firth of Thames from the Pacific Ocean. The scenic cruise from Downtown Auckland takes approximately two hours, while a departure from Orapiu Wharf (Waiheke Island) makes the journey only about an hour. The ferry arrives into Hannafords Wharf, connecting to a complimentary shuttle bus for a 15-minute journey to Coromandel Town.
You’ll need a full day to experience Coromandel Town if departing from Auckland. Sailings stop at Orapiu Wharf and Rotoroa Island.
If friends or whanau are collecting you from Coromandel, we recommend that they pick you up directly at Hannaford’s Wharf as capacity is limited on the shuttle bus into Coromandel Town. The shuttle bus meets the ferry at Hannafords Wharf for the 15-minute journey into Coromandel Town. The shuttle returns to the ferry from Samuel James Reserve car park, departing 30 minutes prior to ferry departure times.
